Gabriel, through the prophet Daniel in Daniel
11:31 stated "...they shall place the abomination that maketh
desolate..." and in Daniel
12:11 "...the abomination that maketh desolate set up..."
In both passages the original Hebrew that was translated to say
"place" and "set up" is "nathan"
(naw-than') 5414; and means: to give, bestow, grant, permit, ascribe, employ,
to, be granted to, be permitted, be issued, be published, be uttered, be assigned. It DOES NOT mean the physical placing of a
physical object. It translates more to mean the establishment of a decree, law or ordinance over an area or peoples.
Are you aware of the definition of "ascribe?" It is: to refer to a supposed cause, source, or author
So by definition someone will ascribe some ordinance to be the ruling law over this "Holy Place" based on
simple definition of the Words God's Spirit inspired men to write down.
Jesus made the exact same statement as recorded in Matthew
24:15 and Mark
13:14.
24:15: When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, stand in the holy place
13:14: But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that
readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
The original Greek text that was translated to read "stand" in both
the above passages is "histemi" (his'-tay-mee) 2476; and means: to establish a thing, cause it to stand, to
uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything.
Both useages point to the establishment of an authority over a region and/or peoples living there.
Now the question arises, where is this "Holy place" this abomination is to be established? I say it is Olivet, the last place Jesus'
feet touched earth. Why do I say this? Follow along as it becomes crystal clear.
The first time we see any place on earth referred to by God as Holy is in Exodus
3 where Moses is called by God to mount Horeb.
1Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
Why was it Holy? Because God was present there and He required Moses to have unshodden, or bare, feet. Why? because shoes were made from
the hide of dead animals and considered unclean.
Now look to one and only one, place where we see this occur again. Look with me to 2 Samuel 15:30 as David is pursued by his own
son Absalom and David heads to Olivet to pray to God;
30And David went up by the ascent of mount Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that was with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.
32And it came to pass, that when David was
come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his
head:
David was barefoot because he knew the presence of God was on Olivet. The notion that the Temple Mount where King Solomon, David's son, built the first
temple, was/is a Holy place because David purchased the threshingfloor from Oman in 1 Chronicles 21 and built there an altar to worship God,
is totally false.
26And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
27And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
28At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the
wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.
The problem arises from the fact nobody truly knows where this was. Solomon built the temple but nobody is certain if it was where the remains from Herod's second temple stands today, that being only the western wall. Did Herod actually
build where the first temple was? AND, did Solomon build the first temple in the right place? 1 Kings
3:3 tells us David sacrificed in high places. Above it is called the high place of Gibeon and God Himself sent
fire on the sacrifices David gave. Would that make that Holy ground as it was with Moses? I believe so.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he
sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
1
Chronicles 16:1 tells us the Israelites sacrificed in the tent David had prepared prior to the Solomon temple;
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt
sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
1 Chronicles 21:28 tells us David sacrificed originally on the threshingfloor of Ornan;
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed
there.
2 Chronicles 3:1
tells us where this Holy place was:
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD
appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the
Jebusite.
The original Hebrew states: "...har (in mountain) Mowriyah (of the Moriah)..."
It says in mountains OF THE Moriah which is only indicative of the region and the Mount Olivet is just NE of this site.
Nowhere in God's Word did David worship God on Mount Moriah and God came to David as he worshipped Him. That place is Olivet, not Moriah. And Olivet
IS "in the mountain of Moriah, it is the same range!
